How long does it take for laminate flooring to release formaldehyde compared to SPC flooring? The formaldehyde release cycle of reinforced flooring is usually 3-15 years, while SPC flooring belongs t

The formaldehyde release cycle of reinforced flooring is usually 3-15 years, while spc flooring belongs to 0 formaldehyde! Reinforced flooring can significantly shorten the high concentration release period to 3-6 months through ventilation, environmental control, and the selection of environmentally friendly products.

Formaldehyde release cycle and influencing factors
Basic release cycle.
Due to the use of urea formaldehyde resin adhesive, formaldehyde release from laminate flooring is a long-term process that takes 3-15 years to naturally evaporate, but the highest release occurs in the first 3 years. ‌‌
Key influencing factors.
Material quality: E0 grade (≤ 0.05mg/m ³) or E1 grade (≤ 0.15mg/m ³) have lower floor release, and large brand products usually meet national standards. ‌‌
Environmental conditions:
  • For every 5 ℃ increase in temperature, the release rate doubles; Accelerate release when humidity exceeds 60%. ‌‌‌‌
  • Continuous ventilation can shorten the high concentration release period to 3-6 months. ‌‌‌‌
Actual residential advice:
  • Ordinary adults: After 3 months of ventilation, if the formaldehyde concentration is ≤ 0.10mg/m ³, they can move in. ‌‌
  • Pregnant women/infants: It is recommended to ventilate for more than 6 months, and a concentration of ≤ 0.08mg/m ³ is safer. ‌‌‌‌

Methods to accelerate formaldehyde release
  • Forced ventilation: Use fans or fresh air systems to enhance air flow. ‌‌
  • Temperature and humidity control: Open windows during high temperatures in summer, or use humidifiers to assist in release (ventilation is required). ‌‌
  • Auxiliary adsorption: Activated carbon, green ivy, etc. can reduce concentration in the short term, but need to be replaced regularly. ‌‌
Attention:
  • Testing priority: It is recommended to have a professional institution conduct testing before check-in to avoid relying on olfactory judgment. ‌‌‌‌
  • Long term management: Even after moving in, regular ventilation is still necessary, especially during high temperature seasons. ‌‌
